Ricky Harris had a voice everyone knew, but few people recognize.

Yesterday, news spread that veteran comedian Ricky Harris had passed away at the age of 54. Depending on where and when you grew up, Ricky Harris’ voice might be more familiar to you than George Michael’s – while Michael was a global pop star, Harris lent his voice to early albums from Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube and more.

Perhaps most prominently known for playing the fictional radio personality DJ Eaz-E-d!ck (of WBALLZ) on Snoop Dogg’s debut Doggystyle, Harris also appeared in early videos for Snoop Dogg and on Ice Cube’s song “Turn Off The Radio.” Let’s not forget the legendary club owner Taadow Bling. Harris later went on to appear in movies and TV shows like Heat, Dope, Everybody Hates Chris and The People Vs. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story. He reportedly passed away from a heart attack.

His hip hop collaborators voiced their sympathy for Harris’ family and celebrated his life via social media. Check out those posts and a classic stand up bit below.
