Lil Wayne Skips Out On Concert After Refusing To Go Through Security Check
Fans of rapper Lil Wayne who paid good money to see him live in concert on South Carolina this past weekend came away bitterly disappointed, after Weezy skipped out on the show because of a security issue. His life wasn’t in danger, nor was there any suspicious activity at the venue – the issue was that he refused to pass through a security check.
According to Billboard, in a statement published on Sunday (October 1st), managers of the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, SC say Lil Wayne refused to enter the building after personnel who were on site attempted to have him go through “the venue’s standard safety procedures.” No exceptions were to be made by the venue , as they were concerned that any negligence on their part would lead to a situation that could “ jeopardize safety” for those in attendance. It’s not inherently clear exactly what those security measures were, but in light of the terrorist attack that plagued an Ariana Grande performance in Manchester, U.K. earlier this year, you can bet that the staff at every concert venue across the globe are putting both patrons and performers under increased security.
Fans who were caught in the crossfire of these events the night of the show took to Twitter to voice their displeasure with what ended up happening.

Lil Wayne’s representatives have not responded to multiple requests for comment from various media outlets as of this writing. Sources say that the rest of the show went on with the likes of 2 Chainz, Tory Lanez and Cardi B taking the stage and turning in some fine performances, which may have helped placate the disgruntled mass of Weezy fans at least for a little bit. As per the details in the initial news report, ticketholders are being offered refunds beginning on Monday.
