Rihanna Fires Snapchat For Promoting Domestic Abuse
SnapChat has officially drawn the wrath of Rihanna. After the company posted an insensitive ad inquiring whether users would rather slap “Rihanna or punch Chris Brown,” it wasn’t long before they realized the utter stupidity of their gaffe. Snapchat proceeded to unleash a lackluster apology to the BBC, writing “the advert was reviewed and approved in error, as it violates our advertising guidelines. We immediately removed the ad last weekend, once we became aware. We are sorry that this happened.” You can check out that story here, and see the ad below.
And while Snapchat attempted to cover their asses, it would seem that the apology wasn’t enough for Rihanna. Today, the legendary songstress addressed the company in a passionate open letter of sorts.
“Now SNAPCHAT I know you already know you ain’t my fav app out there! But I’m just trying to figure out what the point was with this mess!” Rihanna wrote. “I’d love to call it ignorance but I know you ain’t that dumb. You spent money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to DV victims and made a joke of it.”
She continues, living up to her image as a calculated boss-type. “This isn’t about my personal feelings, cause I don’t have much of them…but all the women, children, and men that have been victims of DV in the past and especially the ones who haven’t made it out yet…You let us down! Shame on you. Throw the whole app-oligy away.” She even concludes the rant with a pun, for added emphasis.
THANK YOU SO MUCH WE LOVE THEM!!!!!!
