Eminem Is First Rapper To Move Over 100 Million Song Units
Eminem is in a class of his own, becoming the first rapper to move over 100 million song units.
While the youth of today is less knowledgeable about Eminem as they were a decade ago, the Detroit rapper continues to rack up awards and his unrivaled success is still very much a topic of conversation. Em has been in the game for over 20 years, creating timeless masterpieces and cementing his status as a legend in the rap game throughout his career. Today, Marshall was awarded an unprecedented award that only a very select few have the right to celebrate along with him. The Recording Industry Association of America congratulated Eminem on officially racking up over 100 million song awards, having moved 107.5 million units in total.
The feat deserves immense recognition as Em is the first rapper to achieve this tremendous achievement. With 3 diamond-awarded songs, the new calculation puts the Detroit native just above Taylor Swift and below Rihanna in terms of song units moved. Having certifiably been the top dog in hip-hop for so long, Eminem has slowed down as his years add up, yet still garnering respect over his last release Revival. On their way to meet Em at the top are Drake and Kanye West, who have moved 55 million and 51.5 song units respectively.
Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, and Nicki Minaj were also included in the RIAA’s list, each sitting near the 30 million mark. Do you think Eminem will continue to rise or do you think Ye or Drizzy will eventually surpass the feat? Regardless, congratulations are certainly in order.
