Watch Alicia Keys and Gwen Stefani Cover TLC’s ‘Waterfalls’
Twenty-three years after the R&B trio dropped the original “Waterfalls,” “The Voice” coaches Alicia Keys, Adam Levine, Gwen Stefani, and Blake Shelton team up for an acoustic cover
of the infectious classic.
In a beautifully-lit studio, the coaches harmonize together while adding their own personal styles to the classic track. Sitting behind her piano, Keys also rapped a portion of the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes’ verse while Stefani finished it off. With guests on bass and cajon, the cover was actually a promo for Season 12 of the competition series, which finds Stefani replacing Miley Cyrus after a two-year break.

This is becoming quite the tradition for “The Voice.” Last year, Cyrus joined Shelton, Levine, and Keys for a cover of Aerosmith’s “Dream On” classic.
Released in 1994 as part of TLC’s sophomore album CrazySexyCool, “Waterfalls” spent seven weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Season 12 of the “The Voice” kicks off Monday (Feb. 27) with a three-part “Blind Auditions” episode, which will continue Tuesday and Thursday.
