Drake Retires Stripper Jerseys at Houston Appreciation Week

After hosting the NBA Awards, Drake recognizes a different type of acrobatic star. As part of his Houston Appreciation Week, the Toronto MC held a special retirement party for three famous exotic dancers: Lira Galore, Miracle Watts, and Maliah Michel.

As part of the celebration, Galore, Watts, and Michel’s jerseys were raised to the rafters at Drizzy’s pop-up club at The Ballet. Each woman received a Louis Vuitton gift from the chart-topping artist who recently teamed up with the luxury brand for his new song “Signs.”

Watts celebrated the news on Instagram, where she quoted Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow.” “Look, I don’t dance now, I make Money moves,” she wrote. “Thanks @champagnepapi for helping me gracefully ‘HANG UP MY JERSEY’ OFFICIALLY! 3 years ago, I made a decision to leave the pole in my past, & I never looked back. I’m blessed and thankful to be a part. #MotivateTheStrippers #HoustonMade.”

Mercer shared the same image with her own reflections on the past and another reference to “Bodak Yellow.” “Wow,” she wrote. “I’ve come a long way!! 3 years ago .. I decided to hang my dance boots up.. & I never looked back!! .. Say lil bih .. ION GOTTA DANCE I MAKE MONEY MOVES 🏆 S/O to @champagnepapi for this incredible night .. you’re amazing 💋.”

Taking to Snapchat, Rick Ross’s former fiancé shared a photo of herself kissing Drizzy. Her caption was “I love you” with a red heart emoji attached. On Twitter, Mercer added: “Wow, made strip club history tonight. Got in, got out .. STILL relevant. S/O to the BOY !! @Drake.”

While Michel was also on hand for the celebration and gifts, she didn’t seem too interested in the actual retirement. On Saturday (July 21), Drake’s rumored ex advertised an upcoming appearance at Ace of Diamonds, a strip club in West Hollywood.

“Contrary to ‘social media news’ no man can retire me,” she wrote. “I’m shaking this azz into a wheel chair. Maliah will retire Maliah #MaliahMondays.”

Drake shared a photo of the jerseys on his own Instagram account with the caption of “Paid dues.” He also took a photo with Lira and Miracle, titling it “Liracle.”
