Cardi B Has A Word For Those Saying She Bit Kodak Black’s Flow
When Cardi B’s breakout “Bodak Yellow” first arrived, most anyone with their ear to the ground could hear a very similar cadence coming from the South Bronx-reared femcee’s flow, one that mirrored the South Florida rapper whose name served as inspiration to the title of the track in question: Kodak Black.
Nonetheless, the track was a certified banger from jump and in the four months since its release, it’s gone on to prove its worth, earning a Platinum plaque and finally topping the Billboard Hot 100 chart at a comfortable No. 1 spot. Despite her incredible feats since first launching her career, critics are abound. She’s previously spoken out against naysayers and has had no problem in doing so. But, just in case we didn’t get the message the first go around, she took time out at a recent performance to double down on her sentiments.
“For anybody that be telling me, ‘Oh, b!tch you copied Kodak flow, you copied this and that flow,” So what, b!tch? So what? I’ma sound like all your favorite rappers. I’ma take all they flows and I’ma body it b!tch. One day I’ma sound like Kodak, the next day I’m a sound like Meek Mill, the next day I’ma sound like Migos. I don’t give a fvck. Cause at the end of the day, b!tch, I [?] with that pen,” Cardi said, alluding to her writing skills.
The clip also opens up with Cardi saying that she’ll be dropping her freestyle on her birthday, referring to the freestyle she first teased during a surprise party where she was gifted with her Platinum plaque. “Since ya’ll helped me get to No. 1, I’m gonna drop a freestyle, a freestyle that I did with my whole entire cockroach heart ’cause my heart is very little, like a cockroach,” she hilariously revealed.
October 11th will mark the day that Cardi drops that freestyle and turns 25 in the process. While we’re sure that she already has plenty of celebrate, she’ll likely get to add some more blessings to the list as her birthday happens to fall one day after the airing of the BET Hip-Hop Awards in which she is nominated for nine awards total, topping the list of nominations alongside Kendrick Lamar and DJ Khaled.
